Self-portraiture is an established practice in the history of visual arts and a “rite of contemplation” refers to practices designed to facilitate a state of deep reflection, stillness, or spiritual awareness. Plus: self portraits are just FUN to make!
Bring three printed photographs of yourself that resonate with you for any reason. These can be from any phase or stage of your life. Artist Erika Halperin will help each attendee select the image best suited for the workshop and then guide the group through three creative approaches to self-portraits: blind contour with charcoal, mosaic with tissue paper collage, and a very unique take on a method called “continuous line.”
This workshop is always a delight with surprising, funny, and moving results!
