PriVATE ART PARTIES

Pre-designed art party

Choose from one of the following art workshops for your private art party and get ready for a truly unique, memorable experience for you and your guests! Pricing below.

Revelation of the Divine Pigments: A hands-on, guided exploration of a wide variety of art supplies including watercolor, gouache, pastels, charcoal, colored pencils, and more! Everyone leaves with either a concertina book or stack of notecards cut from the abstract art made while playing with the art supplies;

Sacrament of Surrender: This is a high-energy, collaborative mark-making workshop where everyone adds colorful marks to large pieces of watercolor paper in response to given prompts. The mark-making papers are then cut into strips and randomly re-distributed for everyone to make concertina-books with custom-painted covers to take home;

Assembly of Ephemera: Individual collage-making using scraps of a wide variety of colorful papers. Options for re-creating a favorite photograph, responding to randomized prompt, or simply working from imagination.

Rite of Contemplation: Participants are guided through an abtracted re-creation of a self-portrait using 3 different methods: blind contour, collage, and continuous line with string.

The Beauty of a Still-Life: General guided drawing/painting session using a variety of themed or general still-life set-ups.

Here be Dragons: Imaginary map-making. Participants trace piles of beans & rice onto paper to create a map of a fictitious land then fill in landmarks using a variety of art materials. This one can be done as individual maps or one larger, collaborative map.

Natural Reverence. Self-guided, meditative drawing session focused on plants, shells, rocks, sticks, or similar nature-themed subjects. A lovely way to spend time with friends or family who already have some basic drawing skills or interest.

Painted Pillars. In this workshops, attendees work collaboratively on a long strip of paper which is then cut into strips to be used as decorative candle covers. Toward the end of the workshop, participants will wrap glass pillar candles with the decorative paper strips and everyone takes home 1 or more candles.

Exquisite Corpses. From a hundred year-old, suspenseful parlor game during which each contribution to a whole image is made without seeing the parts that came before so that the full creation isn’t revealed until the very end! Our versions will be made with a combination of collage, dry media and watercolor.

The Movable Text. Attendees will be guided in creating simple flip-book animations inside palm sized paper books. A fun activity that most kids used to do back in the 60s and 70s, no artistic skill is necessary and the results are delightful to share!

Customized art party

Custom-designed workshops are a great way to surprise and delight your guests, especially for a special occasion, to commemorate a shared experience or trip, or to memorialize a lost loved one. Any of the standard workshops can be tailored to your unique group and circumstances by incorporating shared phrases and inside jokes as part of the facilitator’s verbal prompts, or by creating art that uses photos and memorabilia specific to your group’s experience. Simply reach out to Erika and she will offer suggestions based on your unique circumstances.
