Beginner Drawing (4-part series)

Registration open for individual Saturday sessions only —Click here (Registration for the whole 4-part series is now closed).
This series is intended for anyone new to drawing or who wants to strengthen their drawing skills. In this 4-part beginner drawing series, we’ll cover drawing building blocks relevant to both illustration and realistic representation.
Artist and Church of Art founder, Erika Halperin, will start each week’s session by guiding the group through a discussion of selected artworks with a particular focus on the topic of that week’s lesson. She will then guide the group through a series of hands-on drawing exercises to begin learning and practicing the concepts covered.
Each week will end with time spent drawing during which time Erika will work with each student individually to answer questions and provide guidance. If you’ve taken Church of Art’s Intro to Drawing, this is a continuation of that skill-building series, however Intro to Drawing is not required in order to take Beginner Drawing.
Register for the 4-part series and receive a free drawing kit that’s yours to keep!
Drawing kit includes: 1 6B sketching pencil, 1 carbon sketch pencil (combo graphite + charcoal), 1 water-soluble graphite pencil (use dry or with water for a watercolor effect), and 1 kneadable eraser.
By the end of this 4-session series, you will:
-feel more confident in your drawing skills
-understand the value of starting and maintaining a sketchbook practice
-be able to discern why some drawings work and what other drawings are lacking
-feel like part of a small community of fellow beginner artists
