Revelation of the Divine Pigments

Back by popular demand! Have you wondered what the difference is between gouache and watercolor or how to use pastels or why so many artists are obsessed with Neocolors? Do you want to uncover the ways of the Woodies, learn how to use acrylic inks in multi-media pieces, or discover the magic of a stick of charcoal? Let the Church of Art’s addiction to art supplies be your boon!
In this workshop, artist Erika Halperin will guide you through the exploration of one medium at a time as we discuss what the pigment is made of, how it works, and play with how it interacts with other mediums. We will incorporate wax and tape resists (don’t worry–you’ll learn what that means), mark-making with unusual objects, dry brushing, and experimenting with the introduction of salt and water to various materials.
We will then transform our colorful, experimental pages into either note cards that you can use however you’d like (think: gift tags or for leaving sweet nothings for your people) OR small, delightful concertina books that you can take home and enjoy!
